VESUVIUS LAUNCHES DIRECT WHOLESALE BUSINESS TELEPHONE SERVICE

The fixed line telephony market is extremely competitive and there are multiple providers competing to offer economical alternatives to high BT Retail line rental and call charges. The array of tariffs is bewildering and it is extremely difficult for businesses to make a simple comparison between different call plans due to the many call types, minimum call charges, call set-up charges, capped rates, etc. Underneath all of this confusion all of the providers are buying line rental and calls from BT and other networks at wholesale prices and marking up these prices in various ways to extract a profit.
The companies that are currently receiving the best deals and the best customer service are the ones that have switched providers on a regular basis. Vesuvius has now simplified the way it bills it’s customers. Instead of operating as a traditional telecoms company, it is now acting as a handling service to pass wholesale call charges directly from the networks through to it’s clients in a completely transparent way. Vesuvius covers costs with a 4.5p handling charge on each call (the same as BT) but no longer marks up or rounds up call charges. As the clientbase grows and the wholesale rates are constantly negotiated down, our clients bills will automatically decrease as a result. This is effectively a co-operative. The current wholesale pence per minute rate for local and national calls is 0.88 of a penny compared to BT’s rates of 4p/minute for a local call (a 78% saving) and 8p/minute for a national call (an 89% saving).
